Overview
A seven-mile long island located at the mouth of Penobscot Bay, approximately 12 miles east of Camden, North Haven is accessible by year-round ferry and charter air service. With about 400 year-round residents, the island's population swells to about 1,000 in the summer months with visitors and seasonal residents—many of whom have family estates here dating back to the turn of the 20th century—who cherish the island's beauty, seclusion, and understated sophistication. North Haven real estate forms a distinct subsector of the Mid-coast market, and the best properties here rarely come on the open market. The Maine waterfront properties of North Haven include traditional saltwater farms, with historic farmhouses surrounded by open fields that sweep to the shore; grand old summer "cottages" of great stature on promontories with spectacular views; and private waterfront homes visible only from the water.
